TREA Student Scholarships

2023 ScholarshipsThe TREA Student Scholarships are awarded annually to 20-30 graduating high school seniors. In 2023, 435 completed scholarship applications were reviewed for consideration. The judges selected 27 recipients. The winners were celebrated at the Scholarship Banquet during the TREA Summer Conference as one of the highlights of the Conference. Thanks, again, to all businesses and individuals who contributed to the Scholarship Program.

Frequently Asked Questions About TREA Student Scholarships

  • Who is eligible for a scholarship? 
    Any graduating senior from a TREA member school district who will be enrolled in a post graduate program, attending a technical school, or enlisting in the military the following school year. Contact the ISD's Superintendent with questions about their membership status if not listed on the current membership list.

  • Are there any limits on how many scholarship applications may be submitted by a school district?
    No. There will be a limit of how many winners from a single district are selected. A school district will not be awarded more than 2 scholarships.

  • Are there any other stipulations?
    A student is required to attend the Scholarship Banquet at the TREA annual conference held on Monday, June 24, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. to personally receive the recognition. Overnight accommodations will be covered if needed. Three total guest tickets for the banquet are included for the recipient and two guests. Additional tickets for purchase are available.

  • Does the superintendent have to personally initial each application? No, the student will enter their superintendent's name and email on the online application to show that they are aware of the application and the other requirements. 

  • Are their restrictions on how the scholarship can be used?
    Students need to provide the association with their notice of acceptance by the institution they will be attending. The check is mailed to the student to use as they see fit to help with your expenses.

  • What is the amount of the scholarship? 
    The scholarship amount for 2024 is $2000.00.

  • Are there any other requirements?
    Yes, if the student is selected as a Scholarship recipient:

    • Student must be present at the TREA Summer Conference Scholarship Banquet on Monday, June 24, 2024 to be presented the award.* 

    • Student will provide a 60 second introduction/thank you video via YouTube, google drive, Dropbox (or similar platform) to be shown at the banquet. The video presentation should include: introduction, future plans after graduation, and career goal. A portion of the video will be shown at the banquet with the whole video posted online. Deadline for video submission, May 2, 2024.

    • Student will provide via upload to the scholarship platform, a high resolution headshot/senior portrait image to TREA for printing in the conference program, social media and to be shown at the banquet. Deadline for image submission, May 2, 2024.

    • Student will provide TREA their college enrollment and/or military enlistment verification no later than June 1, 2024.
  • When does the online application close?
    TBD

  • When will Scholarship recipients be notified? 
    A student who is selected for a scholarship award will be notified by TBD.

As part of the total scholarships awarded, TREA has six specially designated honorary/memorial scholarships.
    • The Sue Adams Memorial Scholarship is for students entering education as their career goal.
    • The Scott Ferguson Memorial Scholarship is for students entering education or public service.
    • The Eddie Johnson Memorial Scholarship is for students entering education or public service.
    • The Phil Gerik Memorial Scholarship
    • The Texas Farm Bureau Scholarship is for students preparing for an agriculture related career.
    • The Don Rogers Honorary Scholarship
