TREA scholarships are awarded annually to graduating seniors from member school districts. In 2026, TREA awarded $88,500 to 25 recipients selected from 347 completed applications.

How to Apply
The application link is distributed in late fall through superintendents, principals, and counselors in TREA member districts. TREA does not send the link directly to individual students.

Any graduating senior from a TREA member school district who will enroll in a postsecondary program, attend a technical school, or enlist in the military the following school year. The application link is distributed through district administrators and counselors. TREA does not distribute the link to individual students. The application opens November 10.

No. However, a school district will not be awarded more than two scholarships.

A selected student is required to attend the Scholarship Banquet at the TREA Annual Conference on Monday, June 15, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. to receive recognition in person. Overnight accommodations will be covered if needed. Three banquet tickets are included for the recipient and two guests; additional tickets may be purchased.

No. The student enters the superintendent’s name and email address on the online application to confirm that the superintendent is aware of the application and its requirements.

Students must provide TREA with an acceptance notice from the institution they will attend. The scholarship check is mailed directly to the student to help with expenses.

The 2026 scholarship amount is $2,500. The total awards include seven specially designated honorary and memorial scholarships:

  • Sue Adams Memorial Scholarship — for students pursuing a career in education
  • Scott Ferguson Memorial Scholarship — for students pursuing education or public service
  • Eddie Johnson Memorial Scholarship — for students pursuing education or public service
  • Phil Gerik Memorial Scholarship
  • Dr. Don Rogers Honorary Scholarship
  • Dr. Max Thompson Honorary Scholarship
  • LC Stout Honorary Scholarship

If selected, the student must:

  • Attend the TREA Annual Conference Scholarship Banquet on Monday, June 15, 2026, to receive the award.
  • Submit a 60-second introduction and thank-you video by May 2, 2026. It should include an introduction, plans after graduation, and career goals. Part of the video will be shown at the banquet, and the complete video may be posted online.
  • Upload a high-resolution headshot or senior portrait by May 2, 2026 for use in the conference program, social media, and banquet presentation.
  • Provide college enrollment or military enlistment verification no later than June 1, 2026.

The deadline for the 2026 scholarship application has passed.

Students selected to receive a scholarship are notified in early April.
