Amazing Program Available for TREA ISDs with STIPENDS!! Check this out!

Update:  Sign-ups are available for the 2026-27 school year.  Contact Alica Thomas at    [email protected] for information on this unique opportunity that provides funding for the program.   Also feel free to contact Bill Tarleton, TREA   [email protected]
TREA has an amazing opportunity available for a select number of school districts to participate in through the University of Kansas. The plan is to enroll 24 teachers in a minimum of 6 schools. They do have a protocol in place for schools that do not have a large staff. We have attached documents with brief explanations and contact information.  Please contact Jackie at KU directly if you are interested.

Please note there are stipends associated with the implementation of this grant.

TREA's Immediate Past-President, Dr. Bill Chapman, shared his district's insights as a participant in the CW-Fit Program.

This program has been fantastic.  It does not ADD anything to your teacher's day - it focuses on classroom management and WORKS!  We put in to expand the program at a different campus next year.  They provide all training and stipends!  If you have questions reach out to Jared or myself!

Here are a few words from my assistant superintendent who oversees the program:

The University of Kansas is looking for additional Texas schools to participate in a behavioral study.  The study model CW-FIT, shows the teachers how they can implement PBIS and how it works regardless of the campus or district discipline plan by focusing on goal setting with the students and providing them with positive feedback at regular intervals in the lesson.   We did the pilot study with two junior high teachers (one brand new teacher and one veteran teacher).  The increase in student engagement at the end of the study was amazing and truly transformed the classroom.  Our veteran teacher was amazed at the results and has started using the CW-FIT strategies with other classes.  If you would like to find out more information or participate you can reach out to Katy Andrus.  Her email is [email protected], let her know you found out about CW-FIT from Palacios ISD and she can get you all the information you will need to visit with teachers and make a decision to participate or not.

Let me know if you have any questions, or if you share the information and someone wants to visit with me you can give them my cell phone number 325-201-4708 or email.

Thank You,

Dr. Jared Duncum

As a former superintendent and first responder, I would encourage all schools to train as many of your staff and students as possible, in first aid, CPR, and the use of AED.  It will save lives.
